As part of the budget, DEFRA have announced the next stage of BPS delinked payments.

Reductions from 2020 levels had been announced previously, with no forecast for 2025 and onwards. This has now been announced with a significant drop in the delinked payment with the highest claimants being hardest hit as the maximum claim will now be £7,200.

The graph shows the drop in expected income. Payments in 2025 will be based on 24% of the claim in 2020. Where the claim in 2020 was over £30,000, the claim will be treated as £30,000. This unexpected drop in income will could cause problems for farmers who have already predicted their cashflows.

This is another incentive to consider the other opportunities available and could gain assistance through the Farming Resilience Fund.
