I joined Albert Goodman in 2003 as an ATT trainee within the tax department, having completed my A Levels at Richard Huish College in Taunton. I had made the decision not to go to university and instead to apply for a position which provided on the job training. I qualified with ATT in November 2004 and had a brief period away from the firm work... Read more

I joined Albert Goodman in 2003 as an ATT trainee within the tax department, having completed my A Levels at Richard Huish College in Taunton. I had made the decision not to go to university and instead to apply for a position which provided on the job training. I qualified with ATT in November 2004 and had a brief period away from the firm working for another practice in Bristol. I went on to study for CTA which I passed in November 2007.

When I made the decision to return to work for a more local firm again I did not hesitate to contact Albert Goodman. The people are really friendly and have always been supportive towards me. I have now progressed within the firm to be a Senior Manager, still within the tax department. I love my job because every day is different and the variety of work is huge. As well as managing a portfolio of clients I also get involved with lots of one-off projects including inheritance tax planning, capital gains tax advice and remuneration planning. I am involved in staff management, recruitment and training and I find this an interesting part of my role. This has given me the opportunity to gain and use lots of different skills.

I am lucky to have the opportunity to interact with lots of staff within the firm, from across all the different offices and departments, as well as with clients and other professionals. I feel that I am very fortunate to genuinely enjoy the job that I do.
