Albert Goodman advises WCI shareholders on sale to Swedish infrastructure group Uniwater
Leading South West accountancy and business advisory firm Albert Goodman has advised the shareholders of WCI, a specialist engineering company serving the water and wastewater infrastructure sector, on its sale to Swedish-headquartered, Uniwater Group.
Albert Goodman’s Corporate Finance team advised the shareholders throughout the transaction, working closely with colleagues in the firm’s Business Services and Tax teams, alongside legal advisers Clarke Willmott, to deliver a successful outcome.
Founded in 1983 and operating from its base in Somerset, WCI has built a strong reputation within the water and wastewater industry over more than four decades, delivering specialist engineering solutions and earning recognition as a trusted partner across the sector.
The acquisition marks Uniwater Group’s first UK transaction in the sector and represents an important milestone for both businesses. The deal provides an exciting platform for WCI’s future growth while ensuring the long-term legacy of the business and its continued role within the local community.
Brad and Naomi Taylor, Directors of WCI, said:
“Working with Neil and Mike at Albert Goodman made a challenging process an enjoyable one. At every step, we received sage advice which balanced our personal objectives, shareholder value and shareholder protection.
“We might never do it again, but if we did, we’d choose to do it with Albert Goodman supporting us.”
Neil Hutchings, Partner in Albert Goodman’s Corporate Finance team, added:
“We are delighted to have advised the shareholders through this transaction, working closely with our Accounting and Tax teams and legal advisers to realise the value they have created in their business.
“We are also very pleased to see the business transferred to an established operator in the sector, helping to ensure the business’s ongoing legacy and important position in the local community.
“This transaction represents another successful completion for the Albert Goodman Corporate Finance team and further strengthens our position as one of the leading M&A advisers to owner-managed businesses and SMEs in the South West.
“We wish the sellers, buyer and WCI continued success in the future.”
The transaction further demonstrates Albert Goodman’s expertise in supporting business owners through complex corporate finance transactions, helping them maximise value while securing the right long-term future for their businesses.
