3 March 2025: Leading South West-based accountancy firm AlbertGoodman has welcomed two new Directors to its Taunton headquarters, with AbiKingsbury and Mark Thompson joining the business.
A chartered accountant and tax advisor, Abi Kingsbury, who arrives at AlbertGoodmanafter eight years with one of the ten largest accountancy firms in the UK, joins as a director in the firm’s Farms and Estates team at a time when inheritance tax increases and succession planning are high on the agenda for many rural businesses across the country.
Also a chartered accountant and tax advisor, Mark Thompson joins as a director from operating in Albert Goodman’s Business Services team. Having previously worked as an advisor across a variety of sectors, Mark has since specialised in supporting property and construction businesses, from family-owned companies through to large joint ventures and group structures.
On her appointment, Abi said: “This year is certainly a busy time to be joining the AlbertGoodman’s Farms and Estates team, as we look to help our clients navigate unprecedented levels of uncertainty. I’m looking forward to playing my part and utilising my experience as I get to know all of the fantastic businesses we help to support.”
The firm has been vocal on the government’s current plans to raise inheritance tax for farmers and agricultural businesses, with Albert Goodman Partner Sam Kirkhamleading a new report from the Rural Accountancy Group, urging the Chancellor to adjust the proposals.
On joining Albert Goodman, Mark said: “Albert Goodman has a fantastic reputation as one of the leading accountancy firms in the region. I’m excited to join the BusinessServices team at this stage of my career, and I look forward to contributing to the future success of the organisation.”
The duo joins Albert Goodman at a time of significant growth. The firm reported an annual turnover of £21.4 million last year–up 17 percent on the year before.
