Michelle is Albert Goodman’s Head of Charities and has worked in the not-for-profit sector for over 15 years. She assists charities with all areas of accounting and governance, including initial advice on charity set-ups, compliance work with accounts preparations, Independent Examinations and audits (Michelle is also an audit partner within the firm), and she advises boards and lectures on various areas of governance.
Michelle holds the Diploma in Charity Accounting, issued by the ICAEW to recognise exceptional expertise in the charity sector, and has been involved in the engagement strands to assist with the formation of the new SORP. She is passionate about the not-for-profit sector and helping make life easier for charities.
Michelle is a Trustee for two local charities – a small charity which provides refugee aid and she is the Treasurer of the Somerset Community Foundation, which gives her excellence experience of what life is like for Trustees, being on the "other side”.
Outside of work, Michelle can usually be found by the side of a sports pitch with her children and she is also an ex-international basketball official.
