Supporting rural diversified businesses with tax and succession planning. Specialising in the tourism, hospitality, and food & drink sectors.
Kate Hardy joined Albert Goodman’s Farms and Estates team in 2018 and is based in our Weymouth office.
With over two decades of experience in practice, Kate works closely with rural-diversified and small business clients across Dorset and Somerset. Her advisory work spans a wide range of sectors, with particular expertise in furnished holiday lets, commercial property lettings, and hospitality businesses. Kate is also increasingly involved in supporting clients entering environmental and habitat schemes, helping them navigate the evolving landscape of land-based tax planning.
Kate has developed a growing portfolio of clients in the viticulture and food & drink sectors, advising vineyard owners, artisan producers, and hospitality-led enterprises on early-stage tax planning, capital investment reliefs, and business structuring. Her work reflects Albert Goodman’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurial growth and sustainable rural development.
Kate qualified with the Association of Tax Technicians in 2015, earning the Somerset and Dorset prize for her performance in the 2013 sitting. She later completed her Chartered Tax Adviser qualification in 2021, specialising in personal tax, Inheritance Tax, and Trusts. This expertise underpins her strategic planning for hospitality and food sector clients, where succession and asset preservation are key considerations.
Outside of work, Kate enjoys spending time with her two children, walking her black Labrador Milo along the Dorset coast path, and entertaining family and friends.
