South West chartered accountancy practice announces new partnership with Bristol’s Firebrands Corporate Hockey League
South West-based accountancy company Albert Goodman has strengthened its commitment to supporting the region’s sporting community by sponsoring the Firebrands Corporate Hockey League.
The Taunton-headquartered chartered accountants, tax consultants and financial planners already backs the Bristol City Football Club women’s team, Thornbury Town, Taunton Town and Yeovil football clubs and are the main sponsors of the Weston Super Half Marathon.
And now Albert Goodman, which recently opened a Bristol city centre office, has announced a new partnership with the Firebrands hockey competition which is based in Failand and features mixed teams from across the Bristol area.
Albert Goodman Trusts & Estates Manager Julie Harding, who is also the Firebrands Ladies’ Club captain, said: “We are all immensely proud to be sponsors of the Firebrands Corporate Hockey League.
“It’s personally rewarding for me as a hockey player, but it’s also part of Albert Goodman’s wider commitment to making a positive impact in all the communities where we operate.
“We strongly believe in the power of teamwork - both in the boardroom and on the sports field - and this sponsorship aligns with our values of community engagement and healthy work-life balance.
“It’s really great to be formally partnering with a league which provides a route for people of all ages to pick up a hockey stick and actively enjoy a brilliant team sport in a competitive but friendly and supportive atmosphere.”
The Corporate Hockey League is part of Firebrands Hockey Club and boasts six ladies’ teams, five men’s teams, a junior academy, and mixed, indoor hockey for the over-35s, 40s and 50s age groups.
The corporate competition was established to allow people across Bristol to enjoy 11-a-side, mixed, sociable hockey and to promote a sense of camaraderie, health, and wellness in the business community and public sector.
A wide variety of companies and organisations participate, all from the Bristol area, with matches taking place in a league format alongside an annual seven-a-side tournament which provides team-building and local business networking opportunities.
Firebrands Corporate Hockey League chair Paul Langford added: “Our club has a strong tradition of running and hosting a corporate league.
“It is aimed at promoting our sport while offering the business community the chance to play the game in a welcoming, fun and relaxed environment.
“One of the most attractive things about corporate hockey is its ability to allow men, ladies and juniors to compete on equal terms on the same pitch.
“Hockey really does bring together families, friends and colleagues which is we’re thrilled to have teamed up with Albert Goodman to make the corporate league possible.”
Albert Goodman has been helping businesses across the South West for over a century. As well as a central Bristol office, on King Street, other locations include Yeovil, Weymouth and Weston-Super-Mare.
The Firebrands sponsorship announcement follows Albert Goodman’s success in securing prestigious ‘B Corp’ status which recognises the company’s overall enhanced commitment to environmental and social goals.
