I have been in my role as a Financial Consultant for over 20 years and wouldn’t even hazard a guess as to how many clients I have advised in that time. However, it is always the clients and their stories of life-changing events that will stick with me forever.

I often repeat back to new and existing clients these stories as a way of illustrating the ‘What if?’ happens to them either in their business life and or their personal life.

The purpose of this article is not to frighten or shock anyone but more as a reminder that the world is not always fair and that yes, it can happen to you and if it does, there is something you can do to plan for it.

So here’s a ‘what if’ story.

Mrs. C – Diagnosed with cancer
When she was diagnosed with a life-changing illness at the age of 32, her immediate thought was for her family. As a mother of two, she had bought the Critical Illness policy to protect her family, but never imagined she would need to claim.

The diagnosis came as a shock because it was only picked up by another routine operation. “It changes your whole perspective on life and what’s important in life.”
