The role

We are looking for a Trainee to start their tax career with us in our Weymouth office. Training to become a qualified accountant is a rewarding and challenging career and can open a whole host of opportunities for you. Tax involves politics, legislation, case law, economics and for those of us at Albert Goodman it means delivering an outstanding client experience.

You will be completing a training qualification – most likely the ATT qualification. Alongside this you will be an integral member of the team providing a professional service to clients and gaining the hands-on experience needed. Your role will initially involve several aspects including preparing tax returns and other H M Revenue & Customs compliance documents on behalf of clients, identifying planning opportunities and engaging with our specialist teams.

We provide and fund:

  • Technical training with recognised training providers
  • Tuition/Revision Courses
  • Student Registration Fees
  • Annual Student subscriptions
  • Books and materials
  • Exemption/examination entry fees
  • Paid study leave for courses and exams

What we need from you

  • For you to be a confident and collaborative team player
  • The ability to demonstrate outstanding customer service to clients
  • Self-motivation and a strong work ethic
  • Happy working accurately with figures

To achieve the qualification and to consistently give the best and most up to date advice to clients, you will need to be competent at studying and passing exams. Your historic academic or professional results are used as a guide when shortlisting, however we will also consider other factors such as experience, other qualifications, and skills. As an indicator we look for:

ATT – Ideally a minimum of 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) including Maths and English and a minimum of 2 A Levels (or equivalent). If you have a degree, preferably you will have a minimum of a 2:1, although the subject of your degree is not important
