Agricultural specialist Pat Tomlinson joins leading South West accountancy firm, Albert Goodman.
The former agricultural banker, who was previously Head of Agriculture at two leading UK banks, has been appointed as an Associate within Albert Goodman’s agricultural team based at the Taunton office. Tomlinson’s remit is to develop the firm’s offer within the South Somerset and West Dorset regions.
Pat started his career as a farm management consultant in Derbyshire following a degree in agriculture achieved from the University of Reading. For the next 17 years, he worked within the agricultural banking sector, before re-training as an accountant and spending four years at Old Mill Accountants.
Pat says, “The UK farming sector continues to offer new challenges and new opportunities, both seemingly greater than ever experienced before. Farmers will continue as ever to adapt and develop their businesses and I look forward to working with them in pursuit of their future security and success. I remain very optimistic about the future of UK farming and its ability to respond to the numerous demands placed upon it”.
He added: “As farmers meet and adapt to these changing challenges and opportunities, they will need increasingly specialist knowledge and advice from their professional advisers and so I am thrilled to be joining Albert Goodman as the firm grows its long term investment in its agricultural team”.
Iain McVicar, head of Albert Goodman’s agricultural group, comments, “The long term outlook is good for farming businesses that manage their cash flow and plan for the future, so Pat’s appointment comes at the perfect time. His appointment is a real coup for the firm and we are delighted he has joined the Albert Goodman team. His vast amount of experience from the finance and agricultural sectors brings additional skills to Albert Goodman and significantly strengthens our team.”
