School and College leavers

Our school and college leavers programme provides an attractive alternative to going to university, offering a full time position with independence and responsibility. What’s more, it can lead to the same professional qualification you’d get as a graduate and you may even qualify sooner than some graduates, all without any fees or debt.

Training to become an accounting technician with the AAT or a taxation technician with the ATT you will have already achieved, or expect to achieve A/B grades at GCSE and A levels, or equivalent. As a trainee you would normally join us in July/August. If you would like to apply please send your CV, a covering letter and a completed version of our online application form to

For both the AAT and ATT qualifications we provide and fund:

  • Technical training with recognised training providers
  • Distance learning books and materials
  • Student registration fees
  • Annual student subscriptions
  • One-to-one monthly assessment with your tutor
  • Paid study leave for exams

Find out what some of our previous school and college leavers have to say about being part of Albert Goodman and their progress to date:

Albert Goodman have also helped develop my confidence at a pace that suits me, encouraging me to have more contact with clients and giving me greater opportunities to add value to our clients’ businesses. The amount of support I have received is brilliant and I am glad that I can now contribute to the success of future trainees by becoming involved in helping new members of staff get to grips with their work and answering their day-to-day queries.

When I made the decision to return to work for a more local firm again I did not hesitate to contact Albert Goodman. The people are really friendly and have always been supportive towards me. I have now progressed within the firm to be a tax manager, still within the tax department. I love my job because every day is different and the variety of work is huge. As well as managing a portfolio of clients I also get involved with lots of one-off projects including inheritance tax planning, capital gains tax advice and remuneration planning. I also specialise in the tax treatment and reporting of benefits in kind for employers. I have the opportunity to interact with lots of staff within the firm, from across all the different offices and departments, as well as with clients and other professionals.
